The Freeborn Exchange Celebrating Ireland 2016 is a unique project where artist Gavin Freeborn engages with the public to provide a snapshot of their feelings in relation to 1916. People will have the opportunity to observe or partake in a portrait session. Freeborn will talk to people about what Ireland 2016 means to them. Images and quotes will be posted on social media for people to share with the Irish diaspora worldwide and all those interested in Ireland 2016. Take your place in history and join the conversation in person or online.
Originally from Rossnowlagh, Co. Donegal, Freeborn is now based in Brixton, London, specialising in portrait and documentary photography, using social media to engage an international audience. Inspired by artists who barter, Gavin has exchanged his photographic portraits for stories, hospitality, skills and objects in over 20 countries so far.
