DESCRIPTION:Below opening times on the lead up to the festival: \n\nFriday 28th August: 11am – 3pm\nSaturday 29th August: 1pm – 4pm\nSunday 30th August: 1pm – 4pm\nFriday 4th September: 1pm – 4pm\nSaturday 5th September: 1pm – 4pm\nSunday 6th September: 1pm – 4pm\n\nFestival Duration Dates & Times: \n\nThursday 10th September: 3pm – 5pm\nFriday 11th September: 11pm-3pm\, 5:30pm-7pm\nSaturday 12th September: 12pm-4pm and 6:30pm-8:00pm\nSunday 13th September: 12:30pm-4pm\n\nBlue skies is an exhibition of painting by the senior students of Scoil Chormaic here in Cashel. As part of their QQI Level 3 Art & Design Award\, they explored landscape painting and the title of the exhibition was inspired by the song Mr Blue Skies by the Electric Orchestra. \nCreated on repurposed canvases that were primed with pink and coral colours\, the artworks are a vibrant celebration of brushwork and blue tones. \nWhen preparing their compositions they photographed the ever-changing weather and light in the sky from the Scoil Chormaic campus\, but it is their individual responses to the landscape that make this exhibition so unique. \nUsing palette knives\, brushes\, sponges and cloths they described the skies above us all. \nSun is shinin’ in the sky\nThere ain’t a cloud in sight\nIt’s stopped rainin’\, everybody’s in the play\nAnd don’t you know\nIt’s a beautiful new day? Hey\nRunnin’ down the avenue\nSee how the sun shines brightly in the city\nOn the streets where once was pity\nMr. Blue Sky is living here today\, hey\nMr. Blue Sky\, please tell us why\nYou had to hide away for so long (so long)\nWhere did we go wrong?\nMr. Blue Sky\, please tell us why\nYou had to hide away for so long (so long)\nWhere did we go wrong?\nHey you with the pretty face\nWelcome to the human race\nA celebration\, Mr. Blue Sky’s up there waitin’\nAnd today is the day we’ve waited for

SUMMARY:THREADS: Time\, Memory and Material Curated by Lindsay LeBlanc
DESCRIPTION:Opening Times \n\nFri 28 Aug: 11am–3pm\nSat 29 Aug: 1pm–4pm\nSun 30 Aug: 1pm–4pm\nFri 4 Sept: 1pm–4pm\nSat 5 Sept: 1pm–4pm\nSun 6 Sept: 1pm–4pm\n\nFestival Duration Dates & Times: \n\nThu 10 Sept: 3pm–5pm\nFri 11 Sept: 12pm–3pm & 5:30pm–7pm\nSat 12 Sept: 12pm–4pm & 6:30pm–8pm\nSun 13 Sept: 12:30pm–4pm\n\nTHREADS: Time\, Memory and Material is a curated exhibition of contemporary glass presented by the Glass Society of Ireland in partnership with Cashel Arts Festival 2026. Set within the Cathedral Chapter House\, former home of the Bolton Library until 2016\, the exhibition brings contemporary glass into dialogue with a space shaped by knowledge\, preservation\, and time. \nCurated by artist Lindsay LeBlanc\, whose practice explores memory\, ecology\, place\, and narrative through glass installation\, the exhibition reflects an ongoing commitment to site-responsive exhibition making. \nFeaturing artists working across a range of glass processes and material approaches\, THREADS explores ideas of archive\, fragility\, and transformation. Informed by the historical and ecclesiastical landscape of Cashel\, the works engage with the architecture\, atmosphere\, and layered histories of the site\, creating connections between object\, material\, and place.\nGlass Society of Ireland \nThe Glass Society of Ireland (GSOI) is an all-island organisation representing professional practitioners working across the breadth of contemporary glass practice in Ireland and abroad. As a volunteer and member-run organisation\, GSOI supports excellence in making\, promotes visibility for Irish glass nationally and internationally\, and advocates for glass as a vital and evolving material discipline. \nIts members are recognised through exhibitions\, commissions\, public collections\, residencies\, education\, and research both nationally and internationally. Through exhibitions\, events\, publications\, masterclasses\, and professional development opportunities\, GSOI continues to support and expand contemporary glass practice across Ireland while fostering connection and exchange between artists working in the medium.

SUMMARY:Marie Gleeson - Author Talk
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an inspiring talk with former Irish Navy Captain Marie Gleeson\, as she shares her remarkable story of leadership\, resilience and navigating life’s most challenging waters. \n‘The one thing you can’t fully control in a ship is the water all around you\, so part of your plan is always reading and analysing the currents and the tides. You have a clear image in your head of how you think the ship will perform in the prevailing conditions. But this time something isn’t going the way we had planned it …’ \nAs a farmer’s daughter in the country’s largest landlocked county\, Marie Gleeson’s unusual career choice took her into uncharted waters. Working her way up from gruelling bootcamp training to leading a drug interdiction operation seizing €700 million of cocaine from a yacht off the Kerry coast\, she was a leader among men and rose to every challenge. Developing a love of the sea\, Marie learned that to be at one with it required agility\, and a willingness to change\, to go with the wind – not against it. These lessons prepared her for operating without a life raft when her personal life threw her the greatest challenge of all. \nBe Like the Sea is the inspiring story of what happens when we overcome our own self-imposed physical\, mental and emotional limitations\, and a blueprint for charting our own unique path in life. \nMarie Gleeson is a former captain in the Irish Navy. She is celebrated for her ability to translate her military experiences into valuable lessons for business and the real world.
