Fintin Kelly comes from a family of sculptural royalty in Irish terms but no amount of genetic predisposition can quell his gift for paint textures and colour harmony. His work is mainly but never exclusively abstract. He studied at the KCAT school in Callan, County Kilkenny, before taking up a place in the professional studio team some twenty years ago and becoming a founder member of the Equinox Theatre Company.

He is inspired by the natural world with a marked preference for the more colourful representations of it, especially birds and flowers, always managing to capture their freshness and vitality. His paintings seem to emerge effortlessly, one commentator suggesting that it ‘seems as natural as having a conversation, going for a walk, or singing a song’.

His work has been shown as part of the Engagement Projects (2014 – 2020) several exhibitions and touring shows, and in other group shows with KCAT. He is currently preparing for his first solo exhibition.
