Paul Mosse: Sculptures and Other Things
September 11th @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
| FreePaul Mosse began his career as a student of painting at the Slade School of Art in London. He has spent most of his career since then rejecting the attitudes and ideas dominant in art education at that time, initially as a painter but moving rapidly from very minutely recreated representational images to more abstract artworks, drawing on techniques and materials from the natural world and from the debris of modern life. As the work developed, it moved from the wall to the floor, from paintings to sculptures but always defying definitions of both, as well as concepts of completion and authorship.
His work is in the Collection of the Irish Museum of Modern Art, and was the subject of important solo exhibitions at the Douglas Hyde Gallery, the Butler Gallery, Visual Arts Centre and most recently at the Grilse Gallery, Killorglin.
