Introduction / Réamhrá
Welcome to Cashel Arts Festival 2016. We offer you a wealth of choice in arts events in the centre of our unique historic town. Spectacular heritage sites form a dramatic backdrop and a source of inspiration for our artists and performers. We are excited to have Ralph McTell, composer of Streets of London, as our
headline act. As well as being our crowning glory, The Rock of Cashel is the setting of our opening with Manchán Magan and our finale with the magical Vanbrugh Quartet.
Centring around The Plaza we bring you visual artists, street performers, musicians, dance and puppet shows from Thursday to Sunday. Workshops are also in abundance with choral masterclasses, wood turning, fused glass, basket, animation, harvest crafts and as well Elke Wilson’s exciting choice of art workshops for children.
From the opening night with Manchán Magan to Branar bi-lingual drama workshops and Púca puppet shows, Cashel Arts Festival is celebrating our Irish language and culture. Don’t miss the wonderful paintings by local artists on shop windows around the town as part of the 1916 Centenary celebrations. Each artist has interpreted and responded to the shop’s history, making the shop fronts an art gallery open 24 hours.
During our 4 day festival, we aim to engage you, entertain you, amaze you, amuse you…so please join us
and be part of Cashel Arts Festival 2016.
