Cashel Arts Festival collaborated with the Cashel 8th Tipperary Scout Troop and Cashel Girl Guides to create a vibrant entry for the Cashel St. Patrick’s Day Parade, responding to both the parade theme, “Radio Active – 100 Years of Broadcasting”, and the festival theme, “Threads”. The float centred around a giant cable reel, symbolising the networks that connect communities, with a glowing thread of lights carried by members of the Scouts and Guides.
As part of a dedicated workshop facilitated by Cashel Arts Festival, local children created colourful banners exploring the importance of communication, from radio broadcasting to the everyday connections between neighbours, friends and families. The project brought together three local organisations, weaving their ideas, skills and creativity into a shared celebration while giving young participants the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to a major community event and highlighting the power of art to strengthen local connections.
