As part of its commitment to nurturing new artistic work and celebrating local identity, Cashel Arts Festival commissioned acclaimed bilingual singer-songwriter Padraig Jack to create an original song inspired by the town’s rich heritage, landscape, and sense of place. This project has received funding as part of the Creative Ireland programme with support from Tipperary County Council.

The commission represented an opportunity to create a lasting cultural legacy for Cashel, resulting in a bespoke piece of music that captures the spirit, stories, and character of the town. The song will be premiered during the festival opening, giving audiences the opportunity to experience a unique musical tribute created especially for Cashel.

Hailing from the Aran Islands Gaeltacht, Padraig Jack is an acclaimed Irish/English songwriter whose work is deeply rooted in Irish history, culture, language, and storytelling. A nominee for the RTÉ Folk Music Awards, he is recognised as one of Ireland’s leading contemporary folk artists, blending traditional influences with a distinctive modern voice.

By commissioning original work from an established Irish musician, Cashel Arts Festival continues to support artistic development while enriching its programme with meaningful, locally inspired creativity. The project reflects the festival’s wider commitment to connecting artists, communities, and place through culture.
